Rabbi Rabinowitz comes to the Kollel after having taught in Torah Academy . He now looks to use his vast Kollel experience to help grow this budding institution.
R' Rabinowitz studied at some of the most prestigious institutions in Israel including Mir Yeshiva and Torah Ohr in Jerusalem where he studied under the late R' Chaim P. Scheinberg zt'l. R' Rabinowitz has smicha from Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg of the Jerusalem Bet Din. He was a member of the Chicago Community Kollel where he gave inspirational classes in numerous topics and helped many in their path of Torah. He continues to give classes on a broad range of classes both in the Kollel and in the greater community.
Rabbi Yehuda Appelbaum was born and raised in Lakewood, NJ. He attended yeshivah high school in Belmar, NJ after which he went on to study abroad at a talmudic college in Israel for two years. Upon completing his study program he moved back to the States and met his wife, Rivky. After their marriage, Yehuda had the opportunity to fulfill his dream of studying at The Jerusalem Kollel in Israel. Yehuda received Rabbinic ordinance from Rabbi Yitzchok Berkowitz.
During his time at The Jerusalem Kollel, Yehuda developed his passion to unite all Jews in study, and provide the opportunity to learn about our heritage. With joining the Kollel he hopes to help build and strengthen the Jacksonville Jewish community and work on further developing Jewish education within the community.
Rabbi Yosef Chaim Cohen comes to the Jacksonville Kollel from Jerusalem, Israel, where he was born and raised.
He studied at the famous Mir Yeshiva in Israel, as well as Yeshivas Pachad Yitzchak where he also had the opportunity to study Jewish Philosophy and thought under Rabbi Yonason David.
After marrying his wife, Gitty, in 2014, Yosef Chaim began studying Jewish law (Halacha) at Kollel Darkei Horaah in Jerusalem, founded by Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu Zt”l, former Chief Rabbi of Israel.
During his 3 years at the Kollel, he received Rabbinic ordinance, and participated in the Ner Le’elef program, where he developed specialized educational and leadership skills.
Yosef Chaim currently teaches adults and children of various backgrounds as well as classes on numerous topics. He looks to have opportunities to teach Torah and Jewish values to the greater Jacksonville community.
Rabbi Sammy Kahn is originally from Chicago where he studied in Hebrew Theological College for the past 6 years. While in Chicago, he co-authored a book discussing the laws of carrying on Shabbos. Prior to that, he studied at Yeshivat Shaalvim in Israel and Yeshiva University in New York. He has a degree in accounting, passed all 4 parts of the CPA exam, and is a certified shochet for fowl.
